Dr. Shilpi is an alumnus of a famous eye institute Aravind Eye Hospital, Madurai where she had a very long stint of 5 years. She did her post-graduate training followed by an anterior segment and glaucoma fellowship for 2 years. She was trained under the mentorship of world glaucoma expert Dr. Krishna Das who supervises the department of glaucoma at Aravind Eye Hospital, Madurai.
Over the years, she has gained vast experience in managing all kinds of glaucoma and anterior segment cases. She takes a special interest in managing childhood glaucoma and complex cataract cases. She routinely does lasers and surgery for glaucoma management.
She is a member of numerous professional bodies like the Glaucoma society of India, All India Ophthalmological Society, and Bihar Ophthalmological Society and plays an active role as a speaker and an organizer.
